Restoring pitted metal

I posted beneath asking almost Eastwoods Fast Etch, but generally speaking what are the steps in repairing pitted sheet metal. The underside of my 48 two ton are pitted, too as some of the splash pans under the radiator.
I am guessing, remove all rust by whatever means necessary. So do you lot body fill up the pits smooth?
So far working with rusted metallic I take used the following:
Electrolysis: works well, only I volition take to build a bigger vat to agree my parts.
Chemical Rust remover: Slow and messy with mixed results.
Molasses Bath: Once more slow, really irksome depending on the exterior temperature. Vat size would have to be bigger too.
Wire Bicycle on an angle grinder: works well, just doesn't get into the pits 100%.
Sand blasting: I only have a small portable compressor, and siphon gun. Don't have a place to set upwardly a bigger unit of measurement even if I had the dough ray me.
What accept others found to work best?
Will a force per unit area pot sand blaster work on a pocket-sized compressor?
Thanks for any help or comments.

Aye, think I'll build a big electrolysis vat that a fender could fit into. Information technology'southward nice to put the role in and allow the bombardment charger exercise the work. Someone on this site has built a big one. Think I'll become looking for the old mail.

Then tin you put body filler over rust converter?

I was wondering if you can employ body filler over Aught Rust. It has been a very good primer and paint on the parts I accept done and so far. Very tough.

Besides, I know it'due south expensive, but that lizard skin sound deadener tin can be sanded and primed also. That would be nice on the under side of the fenders.

Primary Gabster

all you take to do for a tank is make a box of plywood and lay some six mil poly sheet in it

I employ Aught Rust, have done filler on top in a couple places, only it'south simply every bit well to do the filler on blank clean metal, and if you have whole pieces to clean metal the best bet for the long booty is to use epoxy primer .... for under fenders I like a good layer of rubberized roof tar, cheap and does the task
